Overview
Think of your face as a blank canvas with unlimited potential. Make up allows you to reinvent yourself with each stroke of color. You can look younger, prettier and even more polished once you learn how to properly apply makeup. You can also use cosmetics to minimize the appearance of features that you don't like while enhancing the rest. Every woman should know how to take advantage of the right cosmetics to get the look that they want.
Step 1
Use a make up sponge to apply foundation to your face. Apply foundation by making dots on your chin, forehead, nose, lips, cheekbones and underneath your eyes. Continue to cover tiny veins, redness around the nose, dark circles, blemishes, wrinkles and crow's feet. Blend the dots together starting at your forehead and moving in a circular motion. Use upward motions to blend the foundation into your jaw line and hairline until the foundation gradually vanishes. This base will make your skin look flawless and smooth.
Step 2
Apply loose powder immediately to set your foundation. Dab the brush into the loose powder and tap off any excess. Apply it to the center of your face covering your forehead and chin. Continue to use shorts strokes until all areas are covered evenly.
Step 3
Apply an eye shadow primer to your eyelids. Apply a light colored eye shadow to your eyelid using a back and forth motion with your eye shadow brush.
Step 4
Apply a medium toned eye shadow into the crease of your eyelid. Begin at the inner corner and sweep the color towards the outer corner of your eye. Blend this color into the light colored shadow until the colors blur. Blending will get rid of any demarcation lines of the eye shadows.
Step 5
Apply a dark toned eye shadow to the outer corner of your eye. Give your eyes a sultry look by creating a V-shape. Blend the dark tone eye shadow into the rest of the eye shadow with a round tip brush.
Step 6
Use your eyeliner to draw a thin line near the base of your eyelid. Thicken this line as you reach the middle and extend it a little further past the outer corner of your eye.
Step 7
Curl your eyelashes with an eyelash curler. Use two coats of mascara for long and lush lashes.
Step 8
Use a neutral colored lip pencil to create dots around your lips. Begin the dots at the center of your lip and work your way outward. Connect the dots by tracing your natural lip line. Apply your lipstick from tube or with a lipstick brush. Blot with a tissue to even out the color and to remove any excess color that could end up on your teeth.
Step 9
Dip your brush into the blush and tap off the excess. Look into the mirror. Lightly brush the blush onto the apples of your cheeks using short vertical movements. If you are applying cream blush, dab a small amount on your middle finger. Blend the blush up until you reach the hairline. Give your cheeks a natural looking glow by blending the blush into your foundation.
